It’s been quite a while. My last camp at Lago Maggoire was 7 years ago. It’s time for a new edition of this super cool biking playground! Lago Maggiore 2.0 is in the house!
This area is a jewel with its fascinating combination of water, mountains and the mediterranean climate! Around the region of Lago Maggiore and Lago di Orta we’ll find everything that we adore. The wild and seemingly untouched nature starts just behind the promenade. Walking into the back country for some minutes you’ll end up in a jungle. It is deep green, entangled but also unspoilt – such places are hard to find in Europe. The Val Grande Wilderness National Park is located just around the corner. From the Top you can see the huge Monte Rosa range
There’s not only astonishing nature but also a variety of different trails everywhere. The area surrounding the two lakes got a lot of new trails within the last years – the locals literally went crazy building a huge network of trails. Wicked! They often dug out old paths of smugglers, partisans and herdsmen and turned them into nice biking trails with some modification and a lot of love. These trails cannot be compared to the “highways” in places like Sölden etcetera. We’re talking about single trails here, which are demanding but also playful. So every crew developed their own style. Terriffic! We’ll take you to really far-flung locations, of course! Although the mountains are not very big the trails have high-alpine flair. Steep sides offer deep views into the valleys, which could as well be in the Andes as in the Himalayas. To reach the summits we’ll almost always have to carry our bikes, but if you are ready to accept that, you’ll be rewarded with endless, more than 1000 metres long downhill trails. Wait and see!
Enjoying the Dolce Vita is a must. Our base will be Intra/ Verbania. It’s the perfect place to go to a restaurant, sip Aperol in a nice bar and have some gelati at the lake.
Lago Maggiore Trail Camp 2.0. I can’t think of a better way to start into the season!
