Our journey begins high up in the Ubaye Valley and will end, after six magnificent biking days, deep in the heart of Provence. Rough and ready we begin our journey on the French-Italian border. Feeling tiny in the presence of these impressive mountains of over 3000 metres high. High mountain terrains – picture-perfect biking. We think that the most direct routes are not always the ones with the best trails, so we’ll be taking you through some pretty amazing panoramic routes! Round and about Montclair there are so many fantastic trails, spreading widely all over the area, carefully planned and looked after by the locals! A few days’s road trip, deep in this alpine landscape, through remote valleys and charming mountain villages, we suddenly end our journey in the pitch black soil of “Terres Noires”. This is a wonderful playground, geologically unique in Europe. There are several Enduro Trails to be explored for those who dare to freeride! Limits… well, that’s just personal!
Back on our route, we ride through the lower mountain range, through lush green valleys and rich vegetation. The scent of lavender is with us all the way, even when the purple hues are long gone. The summit of the “Montagne le Lure“, however, looks like a moonscape. Occasional tufts of dry grass line the trail, winding its way up through a bizarre limestone landscape. Our week ends on a challenging, grassy Karst biking trail, leading us to enjoy a nice glass of red wine in one of the historical towns.
Beautifully restored Gîtes offer us great tasting food and superb local wine.
WOW a feast for the senses!
Approx. 14000 metres of downhill biking with ascents of only 6500 metres in total!
