MTB Enduro Transalp Mount Blanc to Barre de Ecrins – Haute Route by mountain bike

Yippie Yeah! Finally, we can offer you this astonishing journey. A high-alpine and unforgettable enduro transalp from Mont Blanc to Barre des Ècrins.

We’ll start our trip directly in front of the Mont Blanc with the well-known “Colle Malatra“. If the weather is good, this day will be an absolute lifetime highlight. A very exhausting tour, which is worth every single step. The trail to Val Ferret seems to have no end and offers a great ride. Wow, what a day! On the next day we’ll still be facing the impressive glacier tounge of Monte Bianco. On old military trails we’ll go further uphill through wide valleys just to ride down the finest trails. A pretty fast and flowing trail leads to an almost deserted French valley. The Tarentaise Valley is surrounded by popular ski areas and an unlimited amount of great trails. We’ll move on and leave the big hotels behind to enjoy the silence and idyll of the mountains.

At the end of Valle Encombres we’ll reach a saddle with a totally fantastic panorama view at Valloire. The Aiguilles d´Arves stands out between mountains and valleys that seem infinite. The upcoming trail through grassland will be a lot of fun. After a small ascent we’re going to be challenged. Perfect hairpin bends alternate with rocky passages before we’ll be able to rush down through wonderful forests. Genious! We’ll ride uphill on a military road and arrive in an almost unreal mountain world. Craggy rock faces, crystal clear mountain lakes and green pasture form an indescribable atmosphere. As soon as we’ll reach the last saddle, we’ll go down again. Pure panorama! High above the valley we’ll head towards Briancon on a GR. Due to the astonishing view at La Meje, it’s hard to focus on the trail. Wow! The incredible Cite where we’ll spend the night is also an astronomical observatory. If the sky is clear, we’ll may be able to take a look into another galaxy! Final day, fantastic day! We’ll be facing a long way uphill through the Peyre du Feu. Without time pressure we’ll just enjoy every second up here. The view at the Barre des Ecrins-massiv is breathtaking! Sooo good! After a cautious start, an unforgettable biking experience awaits us. The trail offers absolutely everything we love!

Today, in ski icon Luc Alphand’s bar, we can have a good time and relax. It’s hard to find the right words to describe the experiences of the week!

There will be daily stages of up to 1,500 metres uphill and 3,000 metres downhill. There will be sections of about 700 metres uphill where you’ll have to push or carry your bike.

Wearing a helmet is compulsory throughout the whole tour. We strongly recommend wearing protectors. Please bring a full suspension bike with 150mm suspension travel and disc brakes.

At first sight, the distances might not seem a lot. However, the days will be long and exhausting. We will often be between 2,000 and 3,000 metres above sea level and the air is going to be thin the further we ride uphill. You ought to be aware of the fact that you will need to be totally focused on the trails when riding down. This will be super exhausting for your body and mind! So please be prepared!

One more thing:
This tour is challenging when it comes to your riding techniques and physical fitness! You ought to have experience with challenging trails and different kinds of soil – this is a prerequisite! Few parts of this tour are exposed and will be signalled by the guide early on. You need good stamina and a certain drive to ride, push and carry your bike about 1,500 metres up in one go. We assume that you control your bike safely and use equipment of high quality.
